THE BRIDGE CONNECTION
2012 WINTER COURSE OFFERINGS:
Courses are 8 weeks in duration and the cost is $150.00. The courses all have student workbooks (recommended) at an additional cost ($14 to $25). A minimum of 4 students is required to run a course. There will be a discount for a spouse taking the same course if a sufficient number of students are enrolled. In addition to the minimum of 4 students, pay-as-you-go ($20 per lesson) students are welcome.
Bridge Basics 1 (BB1) is an introductory course of Bridge. It gives the basic principles of the game and provides a well balanced overview of bidding, play and defense.
Bridge Basics 2 (BB2) introduces innovative methods of hand evaluation and the bids that are used in competitive situations, that is when both partnerships are bidding during the auction. It stresses the ability of both sides to either get to the right contract or make it as difficult as possible for the opponents to arrive at their best spot.
Defense in the 21st Century will cover opening leads, attitude and count signals, discard systems and many more helpful tips to help you improve on this critical aspect of the game.
Play of the Hand instruction series will cover play in minor and major suits, no trump, game contracts and partial games. Slam bidding and playing may be reviewed, time permitting.
BB1 will start Monday January 16th from 1900h to 2100h with Julia Rowlands and is planned to complete March 5th. BB2 may also be offered at the same time with another instructor depending upon interest.
BB2 will start Saturday January 7th from 0930h to 1130h with Barbara McLelland and is planned to complete in late February. BB1 may also be offered at the same time with another instructor depending upon interest.
Defense in the 21st. Century will start Thursday January 12th from 0930h to 1130h with Tim Edwards-Davies and is planned to complete March 1st.
Play of the Hand in the 21st. Century will start Saturday January 14th from 0930h to 1130h with Tim Edwards-Davies and is planned to complete March 3rd.
Pat Spratt is offering "2 over 1" a 4 lesson course ($80) beginning Wednesday morning January 4th 0930h to 1130h and running 4 weeks (January 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th). There may be some flexibility in this schedule depending upon the registrants.
Tim Edwards-Davies is offering "Supervised Play" ($150, no student text required) for players who have completed at least BB2 for 8 weeks on Friday mornings from 0900h to 1130h beginning January 13th and planned to complete March 2nd. A minimum of 4 full time students is required and a maximum of 7 students will be accepted. Please contact me for further information if you are interested.
Personalized and/or specialized classes can be provided on request.

THE COST FOR OUR 8 WEEK COURSES IS $ 150.00 - Courses of fewer weeks will cost less and the instructor will advise you of the cost.
